Phebe Orvis lived at the turn of the 19th century. She was someone who grew up in a social atmosphere that was very much of the colonial era, but over the course of her life, she saw the changes that came with the industrial revolution. Come listen to her story, based on her diary.

Susan Ouellette is a professor emeritus of History at Saint Michael’s College and the Executive Director of the Burden Iron Works Museum in Troy, NY. She has studied, written, and given presentations on women’s history, immigrant history, and the period of the American Revolution.
